The Shack is a great read. In this book, the narrator, Willie, tells the story of his friend Mack who goes to a Shack. At the Shack he meets God (Papa, Jesus, and Sarayu the Holy Spirit). In this encounter, Mack is slowly changed and healed from the wounds in his heart (his father's abusive parenting and the tragic murder of his daughter). This is the bare-outline of the book, but the book is anything but bare. Young has written a beautiful novel about God's love, forgiveness, pain, healing and faithful trust in God. If you're an armchair theologian, like myself, you'll find Young's exploration of the Trinity fascinating, even at times frustrating. In summary, this book is a quick, but wonderful read and will get you thinking about the most important thing in life - your relation to God the 'Papa', the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
